After the rush of the holidays, and friends from out of town visiting, my little family declared January to be a month just allowing ourselves to be.  The weather has been cold, there has been snow and we have really enjoyed not running from one thing to the next.  We watched movies, played games and with their new Kindles, the girls have listened to countless hours of music.  It's been wonderful.  That being said, I didn't pick up my camera to intentionally take one photo.  I snapped a few shots here and there, but nothing award winning.  And I'm cool with that.  I did miss editing photos, so when my friend Matthew told me that I could have access to some of his images, I jumped at the chance.  He lives in Japan so the photos I got to see are beautiful and I'm so happy he let me dig into his archives.. here are my favorite photos of his.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

Recently, my girls were given the opportunity to be in their very first play... as Oompa Loompas.  

They loved it! Even with all the practices, they are both ready to do another one in the future.  

I had a good time too... seeing the cast members from their first reading all the way through the performances was really interesting.  And while *I* will never act in a play, it was a lot of fun to be on the fringe.

So, here are my quickly snapped photos of The Randy Players version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. 

I am so proud of my kids.  I could never be on stage, and the two of them seem to have no problems with stage fright or nerves.  I honestly believe Kali comes alive behind a microphone and Syli seems to enjoy entertaining on stage just as much. It amazes me and I hope they continue to be as outgoing as they are right now.  
I wanted to say thank you to all our friends who came to watch Syli and Kali be semi-anonymous Oompas.  I think the highlight of their weekend was recounting all the people they knew in the audience.
